Dear Creator (Sunny's Podfic Letter)
Dear Author:
Hello!
If you're reading this, I probably love your story. Or you were just curious, but that's okay!
Most likely, I absolutely adore something you've written and am taking the opportunity to ask for your permission to record podfic of said story.
Podfic, in case you're not sure, is an audio recording of a fanfic story. I like to record stories that make me happy and/or are awesome because I want to share them and get other people just as excited about them as I am. So I want to record your story because I think everyone should hear it.
Once it's recorded, I'll make it available to everyone/anyone on my Dreamwidth account (here) as an mp3, and generally, will be submitted to the audiofic archive for download there, as well.
If it's a longer piece, I will also be looking into having it converted into an audiobook (m4b format) for ease of listening.
You can check out my podfic tag to see how I format the headers, but know that you will receive full authorship credit in the header, the audio itself, the audiofic archive's tagging system, and (if applicable) the cover art made for the finished podfic. I'll also link back to the original text, so anyone who listens and loves it has the chance to tell you so.
If you ever decide to remove the story, or disassociate from it, I'd be more than happy to edit our your information/name from the finished piece if you let me know. I would be hestiant to remove the podifc altogether, because it represents a large time and emotion investment. I wouldn't claim to have created it, either, just that the person responsible is no longer available online. If that ever happens, though, we can rap about it. I'm a pretty easy-going sea monster.
Now, I'm not promising immediate turn around, as the whole recording process can be a little labour-intensive for me, but I am promising that I'm going to try my best to be as awesome as possible :)
So with all that in mind, dear author, how would you feel about my recording some podfic?
